When to use markup calculator
- Build a cost-plus quotation.
- Check how a proposed selling price affects gross profit.
How it works
Selling price = cost × (1 + markup ÷ 100). Markup (%) = (price − cost) ÷ cost × 100.
Supported inputs and limits
Cost must be positive. All monetary inputs use the same currency. Markup is allowed from −100% to 100,000%; a negative markup sells below cost. Tax and fees are not added automatically.
Common questions
Does 25% markup mean 25% margin?
No. At cost 80 and price 100, markup is 25% but margin is 20%.
Can I work backwards from a selling price?
Yes. Choose “Find markup from price” and enter the cost and price.
